Surface Tension Waves

Year 2’s semester two lab project was D17: Measurement of the Surface Tension of Water using surface capillary waves. A vibration generator was used to create capillary wave ripples on the surface of a dish of water. These waves were used as a diffraction grating to measure the surface tension of water. The frequency of capillary waves is related to the surface tension of the waves.
